Review for Avir at Irving Health Group – Irving, TX Address: 619 N. Britain Rd., Irving, TX 75061 1 Star (If I could give zero stars, I would.) My brother spent his final weeks at Avir at Irving Health Group, and the care he received was devastating. I am sharing this truthful account so other families can make informed decisions and avoid the trauma we experienced. Lack of Basic Care Staff brought meals, set the tray down, and left. No one assisted him with eating, even though he clearly needed help. His roommate, another patient, often helped him eat when we were not there. During one visit, he was severely dehydrated. His mouth was extremely dry, and when I asked for oral swabs, the nurse didn’t know what they were. It took about 30 minutes for her to locate any. Repeated Wandering and Falls My brother wandered multiple times outside the facility without staff noticing. Each time he wandered, he fell. I received frequent calls reporting these incidents. The facility did not use an alarm clip or other safety measures that would have alerted staff when he got out of bed. Medication Concerns There were times he appeared overmedicated. At one point, his daughter and I thought he was dying, but later learned he had been given too much medication. Staff eventually instructed his daughter—who is not medically trained—to administer his hourly morphine injections. She remained at his bedside for days doing this. Later, when the facility ran out of morphine, she was given tablets to dissolve in a spoon to continue administering his medication. A Horrific Passing My brother was dying of lung cancer and was in severe pain. During his final days, he cried out in agony. No one should suffer like that, and no family member should have to witness it. His daughter recorded portions of this experience, so there is documentation of the conditions and instructions she was given. Final Thoughts This review is written to warn families: based on our experience, I cannot recommend this facility. Compassion, safety, and proper care were lacking throughout his stay.

Carley found a beautifully maintained, welcoming environment that families appreciated, though care quality and consistency raised serious concerns in some accounts.
