My Dad was there for a short time and the got great care from the staff at Beacon Hill. The nurses and aides are very helpful, and the therapists took their time in getting him back on his feet.
This is the best Facility in Texas! I am so glad mom has found her place! Everyone is amazing from the admissions team, Administration, house keeping, kitchen and Clinical team!
My 82 year old mother was sent to Beacon Hill for rehab after being at Texoma Medical Center for illness. We were told she needed physical therapy so that she could return to her home. She was transferred from TMC on January 8th to Beacon Hill, that was on Thursday evening. Friday went okay, but Saturday my Mom asked her aide when her physical therapy would start and was told that Beacon Hill was a nursing home and not a rehabilitation center. My Mom got very upset and had to be sedated. The "doctor" explained to her that they were indeed a rehab center to calm her down. When I arrived on Monday to visit her, her feet were extremely swelled. I walked down to the nurses station to ask the nurses if they were aware of that fact. The nurse for that wing immediately became defensive stating that they were going through a shift change. We were walking to her room and I told her that the little lady in room 204 was crying for help. This nurse said that she had a call button and if she needed help she needed to use it. (First red flag). My mom had a catheter, the bag was full, the urine was very dark and obviously had blood in it. The nurse emptied it and put compression socks on her feet/legs. On Tuesday, her feet were even more swelled and they left her in her chair and compression socks for the entire night. They told me her feet were swelled because she sat in her chair all day, basically it was her fault. The chair she sat in was an "aide assisted" recliner, meaning someone had to lift the foot stool so that she could elevate her feet Mom's portable oxygen take was taken out of her room, them stating the reason being that they were waiting for the tanks to be filled. My mom is on oxygen 24/7, I personally believe the portable tank was removed to keep her in her room because it was brought back when I started asking the nurse and physical therapist about it Every day I went to visit mom, I had laundry to take home, wet urine soaked laundry. She had a catheter, which told me they didn't empty it on a regular basis. Fast forward a few days to Sunday night. My sister called me crying about mom's feet and legs being so swelled and hurting. My husband and I went to Beacon Hill and once again all I got was excuses and shift changes. The director of the nursing staff came to the room and was giving excuses about mom's feet and said she'd get in touch with Dr. Tores (house doctor) and let him know about Mom, I told her he is aware. She said that they could do tests on her feet and have the results within 4 hours which would be better than sending mom to TMC and getting her out in the cold. I had originally asked if I needed to call 911 and was told that once Tores put in the orders, the tests could be done. She left the room and came back saying they were sending mom to TMC via ambulance. I told this lady that my mom was sent there to get some physical therapy and that this facility had done nothing to help my mom. At the Er, the doctor took one look at mom's feet and legs and diagnosed her with cellulitis, immediately admitting her and starting her on antibiotics, she was also diagnosed with a severe UTI. She's still in the hospital and it's Monday the 26th. My sister and I went last Monday, the 19th, and packed my mom's things. I told my mom that when she got out of the hospital, she'd be coming home with me and home health could do physical therapy there. My mom's reply was "please don't send me back there, I don't like it there". I've never dealt with a place like Beacon Hill, and I never will again. This place may be nice to look at on the outside, but it's nothing but a typical nursing home that clearly does not take proper care of their patients. If you love your mom or dad, don't use Beacon Hill, my mom went in for physical therapy and left on a stretcher back to the hospital because they didn't take the time to watch or take care of my mom.
Quality Score
Carley found exceptional care quality and a clean, welcoming environment consistently praised by families, though communication and staffing consistency drew some concerns.
