My sister was at this facility for a year. Myself, my family, and my sister are all very pleased with her care. The staff if very friendly and attentive and I would recommend to anyone who is wanting to place their loved one in a small, home like facility.

My step dad has severe Alzheimer's and was in this facility not even a week and was treated very poorly. The staff members and nurses were obviously neither certified nor trained to handle Dementia/Alzheimer's patients. The one and only time my step father got combative, due to the negligence and lack of medication administered for agitation, they sent him to a psychiatric unit in Palestine, Tx. Coincidentally, a couple of days after they sent him, all of the staff members and nurses at Corrigan LTC had to go through training. We live in Houston and we were ok with driving an hour/hour and a half to go see him and check in on him. But then he gets sent three hours further?? They initially wanted to send him to DeRidder, LA but the facility there did not have an available bed. Thank goodness for that because my step dad would be stuck in Louisiana. When Corrigan told us that they were going to have to send him to a psych unit to get re-evaluated and get his medications adjusted, they told my mother that my step dad would be able to return to their facility. Well a few days after that phone call, my mother reached out to them again to see when my step dad was going to be able to return. They then told my mother that he would not be able to return. So, they sent my step dad four and a half hours away from his family and now are saying that they will not be bringing him back??? So now it is up to us to find yet another facility for him and find him a way to get back home because they sent him out there just to wash their hands of him. The memory care/lock down unit consists of one hallway, 14 rooms, all with double beds. The staff member that is supposed to be monitoring them just sits in a chair in the middle of the hallway and does nothing. They do not get up and do rounds to check on patients in their rooms. They do not make sure that the patients do not have access to things that could harm themselves or anyone else. The lady that we went over admitting paperwork with gave us the impression that he was going to get the best care but actions showed us different. Like I mentioned in the beginning, I would not recommend this facility to ANYONE! The negligence, the false information given, and the fact that they can ship your loved one away and leave them somewhere HOURS away from their family...it just goes to show that they do not have any type of care of compassion.

Carley's Analysis

Carley found families overwhelmingly praised the exceptionally attentive and compassionate staff in a clean, home-like environment, though specialized dementia care raised concerns for one family.
