Unfortunately for our community we don't have much of a choice when it comes to assisted living facilities. Our experience with La Hacienda de Paz Rehabilitation did not at all mirrored their mission statement "Caring. It's what we do best". CARING from the administration/nursing staff (Connie) lacks not just caring but ethical responsibility to public safety. This is not a top priority. The administrators' at the facility state true transparency between staff and patients is the key in their business model. Not the case! My mother developed a severe rash which concerned us to the point that we requested further medical evaluation to find out if it was something more serious. They claim HIPPA rules, FALSE STATEMENT, they disclose medical information with you when its convenient to them. To make a long story short, it turned out that our mother had been given a room that was previously occupied by someone that had scabies. My mother was treated for scabies without her, the spouse or us knowing. Not only that, they disregarded the fact that while my mother was being treated for scabies, NO ONE should be allowed to visit her until the treatment was completed. (Report attached). Connie DENIED this until she realized she could no longer deny the fact of what was written on the discharge papers. My mother had numerous visits from family including grandkids, which were all EXPOSED and developed scabies. Shame on these so called health professionals. I pray to God that our mother never has to set foot in this place ever again. I truly would pay attention to the concerns that are posted for this facility and stay on top of your loved ones. I have seen how many of the elderly in this place are NEGLECTED or ignored. It is truly a sad thing to see. Cynthia Garza Moreno

Accompanied a friend to this nursing home out of curiosity and the lady there was nice enough to tour us. She was very informative, answered all of my friends questions. The staff was very nice and stopped what they were doing when introduced. I got a good feeling from them and from seeing the residents smiling.

This is from my purview as the provider of dentistry to this beautiful nursing and rehab facility. I had a visit today with my patients. Things in this arena are always very dynamic bc of the daily going ons of caring for these beautiful individuals. Their needs are great and varied. I can honestly say that in my 25 yrs. of being a hospital dentist and a mobile dentist serving nursing facilities, this is one of the best that I have encountered. Today, Connie DON was very perfunct re in her communication with my team about the status of our patients. She also helps out with serving her patients their meals and filling their beverage glasses. Also Connie visits with her patients on the clinic floor and asks them what their needs are for the day as well as offering solutions for their concerns. This is not the norm. She goes above and beyond. Ms. Socorro was an absolute godsend today as she had our pts. meeting their appt. times with me in an extremely kind and effective manner. I like to refer to her kind nature and ability to plug in where she is needed by pts. as “ Un poquito de todo. “ ❤️ Ms. Socorro had a very good energy that is so very caring ❤️ I believe/know that today was a great visit. Thank you LVN Ms. Crystal who facilitated the visit as well. Adon too. I must also mention the gentleman in physical therapy with the salt and pepper hair. I cannot remember his name but he has been a constant during the time that I have been servicing this facility and also plugs in when he can to transport our patients so that my assistants and myself can transport a patient onto our mobile unit for treatment. It really does take a village. Teamwork makes the dream work.
