My parents moved into Heartis-Arlington two years ago this month after living on a lake for many years. The transition was critical as I am sure it is for all new residents. All of the management and staff are beyond exceptional. They were (and are) caring, considerate and understanding. They made the transition much easier. After two years, I can say they are still dedicated to each resident. I LOVE everyone that works there. Unfortunately my mom passed away but with everyone's help, my dad has continued to do well. The staff and management really listen to the residents and family members and will do what they can to meet each individual's needs. They do lots of activities. If you are looking for a place to call home, you won't be disappointed in Heartis.
Where do I start? I was recently a sitter for one of the resident, and my experience here was horrible for starters you can never find any help from the care givers because one they are either hiding or outside smoking cigarettes in their cars. Caregivers smell like weed and have real nasty attitudes, you can’t tell management anything because they are always quote on quote in a meeting or no where to be found. When you do get in contact with the current nurse, she always claims she is going to look into but nothing gets done. I’ve also witness the nurse talk down upon her employee telling them she is their superior as opposed to their supervisor. I’ve came across caregivers on phones video chat may I add in hallways laundry rooms or asleep in hallways. Rooms are always smelling like urine or feces. Resident appear to be in the same clothes at least 2 to 3 days. The food was never cooked to its full capacity and when taken back to the kitchen you are met with an unpleasant attitude from the chef I believe his name is Oscar, meal treys are late if the meal trays get passed. Med techs have handed me the medication to give to the resident not watching me give the medication or have any knowledge that I gave the medication because they are too busy answering call lights or have to assist with another resident. The front desk never picks up the phone you have to call at least 8 times. This is the 3424 w I 20 hwy location .
The facility is nice and clean. Most of the staff are friendly and kind. The food is good. I wish Heartis would fix their work order “system.” I have yet to get anything done with a work order. I have had to contact the executive director every time something needs to be done. The pipes in the attic really need to be insulated. The water is so hot in the summer that my mom can’t shower or wash her hands at certain times of the day. When she needed personal assistance, it was sometimes longer than the promised 8-10 minutes. That’s a big deal when a 90 year old needs to go the bathroom.
Quality Score
Carley found families consistently praised the exceptionally caring and attentive staff, though a few noted occasional challenges with maintenance responsiveness and communication.
