This is a great place to have concerts. The Gulf Coast Concert band that I play in comes a lot which I love. I heard they have been performing a long time and the residents love it. I love performing concerts with the band there and it makes the band sound wonderful and the residents will love listening to the music. I wish they would come play more often for the residents. This place is awesome and has wonderful staff.
Following a stroke, my dad spent the last two weeks of his life in hospice at Seven Acres, and received excellent care there. The caregivers, nurses, and staff were all competent, friendly, and sympathetic. The meals were excellent, even though Dad required pureed food, and were spoon-fed to him patiently and expertly. Dad was always kept clean, and I was never able to discern the slightest odor from him. His room was also clean and had a Roku-enabled TV, which I was able to configure to display beautiful artwork; wi-fi service so that I was able to bring an Amazon Echo from home to play Dad's favorite classical music; and an amply large refrigerator/freezer that I used for keeping snacks (e.g., canned pumpkin pie mix for Thanksgiving). Special thanks to Social Services Administrator Dana Rose for helping me set up Dad's cremation (and for many much-needed hugs, since I was crying a lot), to Business Office Manager Stephanie Heitman for expediting the refund of Dad's unused days (a month's payment up-front was required for admission), and to CEO Masha Cayton for talking to me personally upon Dad's passing—and for her letters expressing sympathy and making a donation in Dad's name to Seven Acres. Afterward, I was invited to a Hanukkah party, which featured masterfully played Jewish folk music and made me feel like I have a new family at Seven Acres. Heartfelt thanks to everyone at Seven Acres for helping me get through this very difficult time.
I would like to address an incident that occurred at the 7 Acres Jewish Community Center involving an employee named John. As a healthcare professional myself, I understand that working with people is not an easy task and requires patience, understanding, and clear communication. I fully respect the challenges that come with such roles. That said, I believe there was a significant misunderstanding during this encounter, largely due to a lack of clear communication within the facility. I felt that the situation could have been handled much differently. Rather than approaching me calmly to ask what was going on, the interaction unfolded in a way that made me feel as though I had done something wrong, which was not the case. John observed me enter and exit the building, yet instead of addressing any concerns directly at that time, he chose to run to my car. This approach felt unnecessary and avoidable, as I would have been more than willing to explain the situation had I simply been asked. Unfortunately, his actions implied that I was being accused of stealing, which was both upsetting and unwarranted. I take great pride in my integrity and do not take lightly being accused of any wrongdoing. My concern is not only about this specific interaction but also about the broader issue of communication and accountability within the facility. Clear, respectful communication could have prevented this situation entirely. I hope this feedback is taken in the spirit in which it is intended—constructive and aimed at improving future interactions so that similar situations can be handled more professionally and respectfully.
Quality Score
Carley found attentive, caring staff and a clean, well-maintained facility that families valued highly, though communication with families and care consistency occasionally drew concerns.
