I placed my mother in this facility that my sister had located. Everyone seemed friendly at first, although the facility was hardly cleaning and did have a bad odor throughout. The admissions person Was very helpful, but as I found out later, she was not knowledgeable of Medicare rules and guidelines. They placed my mother in a room with another patient when she should’ve had her own room. and daily therapy. The staff at the door was mostly rude and definitely took their time letting you in and out. There was never a time that I went to the Facility that it did not reek of Urine. On multiple occasions, I would go visit and wait for a minimum of 30 minutes and not see anyone caring For the patient. I often went during meal time very rarely did anyone assisted with setting up meal trays for the patients they would just throw them on the table in the front of them. I often saw patients fighting in the dining area with no one to stop them. Because there was rarely any staff in the dining room. Although I was washing my mother’s clothes, they all seemed So I had to replace them multiple times. I had to write her name on her clothes like she was in prison, Which to me seemed fairly accurate to the situation. The nursing floor staff was pleasant, but there were two few of them. When I brought his concerns to the administrator, he did attempt to correct them and the dietary concerns were addressed As far as the type of food, my mother was being served. They did hire a new director of nursing who was very rude and wanted to give my mother medication’s to alter her mental stability, which is already compromised due to Alzheimer’s. When I told him I did not want her to have that medication he got mad at me, raised his voice and told me he was going to leave it on her medication list. I am her medical power of attorney.Meaning he wasn’t even going to let the doctor know I didn’t want her to have it. The staff continued to want to put my mother in a wheelchair, although she had been walking just fine With a walker prior to being admitted to the facility. My mother was falling on average twice a week there. Which I contribute to the lack of staff to watch or assist the patients, in my own visual observation of the patients , pushing pulling and fighting with each other. After the last fall with three bones are broken, I was finally informed of Medicare rules and moved her to another facility. No facility is perfect But this facility does not even meet basic standards. This is a sad situation because it is a VA approved facility. Which my mother qualifies for and there are no other VA facilities in this area. I would never suggest this facility to anyone.

I don't do many reviews but I just had to leave one for Austin Wellness and Rehabilitation. My mother was a resident there and the staff was incredible. They care for their tenants and well being. I am so grateful for everyone who works there to assist my mother and her every need. I highly recommend this place to anyone who needs help with their loved ones.
