My brother was told he would never walk again, and yet, 8 months after he came here, he started walking with a walker, due to the unfailing support, encouragement, and expertise of the Physical Therapy staff here at LBJ. I am amazed at what they’ve done and how excited he is at his progress! Amy Normand
My mother has been a resident of LBJ Medical Center for a year now. Our family is very grateful for the love and care she receives from the staff. It has been such a comfort knowing that she feels safe and supported. We feel very blessed that she is happy and thriving in their care.
My mother-in-law lived at LBJ Medical Center (now called Avir at Johnson City) for 8 months. In full transparency, we were doubtful, as she was quite picky about the “aesthetics” of where she lived but when her dementia escalated, we wanted her in Johnson City, where we live, to be able to have easier access to her than where she was living in Fredericksburg. Let me say this…the “fancy” place she lived before was lipstick on a pig. While LBJ may be an older facility, it is ALWAYS clean. SHE was always clean and taken care of and the staff GENUINELY loved her, even when she had moments of name calling and giving orders. I especially want to give a shout out to the Business Office Mgr, Christina Owens, as well as CNA Jen Ingle, who shared sweet stories with me after we lost her. She would gently caress my mother-in-laws hair when she was agitated to help calm her, and a wonderful LVN, Gloria Mesa, who affectionately called her Mama when helping her. I would not hesitate to have another one of my loved ones live there. We will be forever grateful for their care.

Carley found a clean, welcoming environment with strong rehabilitation outcomes, though staffing consistency and communication gaps were concerns for some families.
