We are truly grateful to Estate at Shavano for the wonderful care my mother has received over the past year following her serious fall. Thanks to their friendly and professional staff, she's enjoying exceptional medical, physical, and mental support. I can't say enough good things about Roxanne, Rosella, Sherryl, Tim, and the whole admin team—they're all absolutely fantastic! I would wholeheartedly recommend this facility!

Updated Review I feel compelled to update my previous five-star review of this facility. My mother has been a resident here for nearly two years. The rehab side has always been excellent, and the long-term care side is fairly standard. Unfortunately, since my mother’s health has declined and she has transitioned to hospice, I’ve experienced concerning changes under the new administration. When Brandon was administrator, the focus was always on the patient first. Any issues that arose were dealt with promptly and compassionately. Since the arrival of Roxanne, however, the priorities appear to have shifted from patient-centered care to corporate image. She presents herself as friendly and professional, but some of her decisions have had a negative impact on my mother’s mental & physical wellbeing For the past year, I have been bringing in foster kittens from our local animal shelter to visit with my mother. These visits have brought her—and other residents—immense joy. Many staff members and patients have looked forward to holding and petting the kittens. At this late stage of my mother’s life, these moments of connection are priceless. I realize kittens might be too young and exposed so I am open to bringing older vaccinated cats ….that would be an absolutely fair alternative to my newborn to 3 month old fosters. Recently, Roxanne informed me that I could no longer bring the kittens. What troubles me most is not the decision itself, but the lack of honesty and her approach. Previously, she had me bring the kittens into her office so she could visit and play with them about two months ago. That would have been the time to approach this topic. Meanwhile, she herself continues to bring her personal dog into the facility, even placing it on my mother’s bed. This inconsistency is disheartening and feels deeply unfair denying my mom her love of cats. On multiple occasions, I have walked in to find my mother in her nightgown at 3 p.m., despite my repeated requests for her to be dressed each morning. Her teeth have been left uncleaned and filthy, and she has been placed in front of cold meals she cannot feed herself. Staff explained they were overwhelmed, which I understand, but the solution is more staffing support—not leaving vulnerable patients to go without necessary care. Additionally, my mother, who has severe communication challenges, was moved unnecessarily from the room where staff understood her needs, causing her stress and confusion. Instead of prioritizing her comfort and routine, the decision felt like it was made for administrative convenience and profit. Hospice reported to me this caused my major anxiety. I have seen little attention paid to improving direct patient care thru additional staffing. It is deeply concerning to witness this shift away from compassion and dignity for the residents, with RN, CNA and Aides continually under staffed leaving patients in dirty and wet diapers for hours. The most heartbreaking part is that my mother has lost one of the few joys she had left—weekly kitten visits that made her light up with happiness. To take that away, while allowing her personal pets, sends the message that patient needs are secondary. This facility has so many hardworking and caring staff members, but I can no longer recommend it in good faith under the current administration. My trust in the new leadership been compromised , and that is a painful thing when your loved one depends on them. I hope her leadership, in my opinion of her, is not going to affect the morale of the many wonderful staff members.

I've only been visiting my mother for three weeks, but in the time I've been here I can tell you the staff is great and the facility is absolutely beautiful. As you first walk in, you instantly feel like your entering a beautiful foyer. Your eye instantly goes to all the glistening fall decor and pretty lighting. The decor is 5 star throughout and very important to us and we know that brings our Mom some comfort. This is very important to us. No dark and spooky fall decor! Then there's the staff that is outstanding. They even know me by my first name. Roxanne and her team of administrator's always greet us with a smile and kind words, as does the therapy department. I only gave this a 4 star verses a 5 star, because I wish they had outdoor cameras. I'm happy to report there's indoor camera's and you must sign in to enter. Highly recommend thus far! Sincerely, one of three siblings who feel the same way.
