As I was not a patient in your facility, but my brother was, I am NOT impressed at all. He spent almost a month there and did NOT have a shower in over a week. When he asked for information on some things it seemed as no one really knew much about anything. When he was discharged, he was home for 3 days before a nurse called ME to inform that his night medications were left at the facility. Is there not a discharge list/policy on items at the facility that should go home with the patient? He was NOT impressed much except that the walking therapy was very much needed and the therapists did a good job on helping to gain some strength.
This facility cares about their residents. My loved one came here and was treated kindly. We liked how clean it was. Bonnie was attentive and answered questions. Natalie was very caring and helpful. The therapy team and nurses helped my mom gain her gain her health back..
am compelled to share my experience with Guadalupe Valley Nursing & Rehab Center, where my mother was admitted following knee surgery. Unfortunately, the care she received was far from satisfactory and raised several concerns regarding her health and well-being. **Decline in Physical Activity** My mother’s physical activity declined rapidly during her stay. Instead of encouraging her to use the toilet as part of her rehabilitation, she was continuously placed in adult diapers. This approach undermined her therapy, as using the toilet should have been a fundamental part of her recovery process. **Neglected Personal Care** Before her admission, I ensured that my mother had all the necessary toiletries. Shockingly, after two weeks, none of these items had been utilized. Her clothes were often dirty, which is unacceptable for any care facility. During one visit, I found her pants pulled halfway up and her shirt bunched up, with her door and curtain wide open, compromising her privacy and dignity. **Medication Mismanagement** There were serious issues regarding her medication. My mother appeared to be over-medicated, and on one occasion, I caught a nurse just before she administered the wrong medication. Dr. Flores frequently adjusted her medication, treating her as if she were a scientific experiment rather than a patient. When my mother began experiencing hallucinations as a side effect, instead of reducing the narcotics, the doctor increased them, which only exacerbated her condition. **Staff Accountability** The only staff member I felt I could trust was Keith, who seemed genuinely dedicated to the patients. Meanwhile, the facility's administrator, EJ, failed to follow through on any promises made regarding her care. Other nurses like Bonnie and Stacy showed competence, but they were not enough to redeem the overall experience. **Conclusion** Given these issues, I cannot recommend Guadalupe Valley Nursing & Rehab Center to anyone looking for quality care for their loved ones. The lack of attention to personal hygiene, medication management, and overall patient dignity is concerning. My experience leads me to advise others to seek alternative facilities for long term care or rehabilitation.
