My mother and father in law moved in to the Ridglea five years ago. We cannot express how appreciative we are to the staff for their caring support during these five years. When my mil was dying, they helped us arrange for hospice and cared for all of us throughout the transition. When my 100 year old fil broke his hip last September, they provided the support for him to come back to the Ridglea and recieve services to become active in the community again. The Ridglea staff are kind, compassionate and always there when needed. The facility is cheerful and lovely.

We moved our parents here 6 months ago. My father was very sick but he wanted to get my mother settled while he was still alive to help her transition better. It was an extremely stressful time for our family but Liz and Michela and all of the wonderful caregivers made the transition easier. My parents felt at home right away. My dad’s last real enjoyment in life was having a nice meal. He loved the food provided by Chef Fernando! My father has since passed, but the staff has been there for our mother to give her a hug, check on her frequently, and keep her involved in all of the activities. I can’t say enough nice things about Linda, the activities director and John the assistant. They both have shown incredible interest and care for my mother. They plan many fun activities for the residents. The Ridglea is clean and well maintained. It smells good from the minute you walk in! The residents are also very sweet and we have enjoyed getting to know them also! I highly recommend family night! Such a great way to get to know everyone.

They say you’ll know when it’s The One, which is especially crucial when selecting important relationships in your life … such as the assisted living facility for your parent. My mom reluctantly accepted it was time to leave her beloved home of decades, acknowledging she needed help. I was tasked with the immense responsibility of finding her a place she would hopefully come to love and think of as Home. And I wanted a smaller to medium sized facility thinking it would encourage familiarity, friendships and, ideally, even a place “Where everyone knows your (her) name.” Walking into The Ridglea, my first impression was how beautiful it was … gorgeous antiques, chandeliers, lovely colors, a huge, inviting dining room, lots of windows and natural light. My second impression, can the people be as wonderful as the attractive setting? And third, there is absolutely no way we can afford this. We were given a tour, questions answered as were all of the additional questions I thought of after we left, and for days on end. We were invited to meals to try the food and meet the chef (they have a chef!). We were included in activities so we could experience them for ourselves. The staff, we discovered, were compassionate and caring. And we came to the thrilling realization we could make this work, the costs were comparable to similar facilities, but ones not nearly as exceptional … I think my mom is exceptional and that’s what I wanted for her. My mom went from living alone and having almost no social contact, to my family and I now having a hard time reaching her because she’s so busy! Flower arranging classes, bible studies, chair exercises, shopping/eating excursions, sing-a-longs, hot chocolate socials, and, yes, even bingo. She also enjoys roaming around, getting exercise and finding people to meet and visit with. She receives fresh flowers in her room once a week. They encourage residents to come to the dining room for meals but you can certainly stay in your room if you prefer. They have an app that lets you know when they participate in an activity. There are monthly Family Nights where they have live music, raffle drawings and it’s an all-around festive atmosphere. For your birthday, you get to pick three favorite meals, the chef selects one and he makes it especially for you! My mom is back to being the dynamic, social person she was. I thought we had forever lost that version of her but, thankfully, she has returned. And in true Happy Ending fashion, almost everyone at The Ridglea now knows my mom’s name … mine, too! And we’re trying our best to learn all of theirs. She is Home. Five stars for The Ridglea and their caring staff.
