My mom was here for a month after a back injury. She LOVED it! We were anticipating her stay to be much longer but her physical therapist was incredible and got her progressed enough to go home. My mom's takeaways were: 1. Incredible staff! They were gentle, respectful, kind, and attentive. The Director is on site, active, and very personable. 2. Good food. Way better than hospital food. 3. My mom had a large room and had her own air conditioner to control at her liking. 4. We loved that the beds were height adjustable and could drop down closer to the floor for fall risks, and to ease her ability to get into her back brace. 5. She loved that there is a hair salon in the facility! The lady was able to detangle my mom's hair and give her a fresh haircut that she could better maintain while there. Overall, highly recommend!
My dad fell and broke his hip just before Thanksgiving. After surgery he was transferred to The Shoal for rehab. There is so much stress involved with leaving your injured loved one in the care of strangers. The staff here are simply amazing! There are too many to mention by name and title so I will just say every single person that took care of him was compassionate, kind, patient, and personable. He is able to walk again and live at home because of this fantastic facility and the staff that works here. To the staff: We will always be so grateful for each one of you! Our family knows you go above and beyond each day. You really care for the residents and treat them like family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Love, The Baker's
I wonder why nobody mentioned the dismissiveness of the staff and management here at the shoal. I was looking for a home to place my parents and wanted to inquire with the shoal. The administrator was very dismissive and rude, cutting me off before I could finish my sentence. Other staff members wouldn’t even address me as I walked in the building or around the facility. I’m not sure if it’s because the color of my skin, or the predetermined judgment of my employment and finances… either way they shouldn’t make anyone feel as though they’re less than when trying to prioritize the care of a loved one

Carley found a beautiful, immaculately maintained facility with exceptional rehabilitation outcomes, though care quality and consistency raised significant concerns across multiple family accounts.
