I stopped by Windmill Village Nursing and Rehab unannounced as I was in the area on Friday. For the past week, I had been helping a friend who is possibly seeking long-term care for her father in Lubbock. As a social worker, over the years, I have been in many of the nursing homes in Lubbock, but had not had the opportunity to visit Windmill Village. I was given a tour by the Marketing/Admission Department, Elsa. I was overjoyed because the facility and grounds were absolutely beautiful, clean and warmly decorated. When I was there it was lunch time, and the food looked and smelled delicious. The dining room was airy, open and inviting. The residents' rooms were spacious and had a private bathroom. The cleanliness of the facility was impeccable, and there was no chemical cleaning smell which is important to me. The activities described for residents sounded fun and engaging. When I left I thought if I ever needed long-term care this would be a place I personally would choose, and I definitely recommended it to my friend. Thank you, Windmill Village for being here in Lubbock and for providing a beautiful home and next season of life for people in need.
Did someone really say the staff needs Jesus? Quite comical! My mother was admitted to Windmill in February 2018. Our situation to get mother in here was out of necessity as we had other family issues going on at the same time. So, we were moving at a quick pace to place her into this facility. The staff could not have been more providing if we would have asked. Getting mother into Windmill was awesome. As we settled into our daily routine and finally caught our breath, the small details that I initially overlooked were right there already. The staff was pleasant to work with and always willing to be of assistance. The nurses, whether during the day shift or during the evening, was pleasant and could answer any question I had. Even if I had a small request, it was answered immediately....within reason. haha The administrator was always available as well, to answer any questions I had regarding her care. I found her to be knowledgeable and caring towards our family (mother's) needs. We even sat down to brainstorm as to how to improve our care, again within the legal ramifications of the nursing care world, and came up with some solutions that would benefit my mother. The staff that helped during breakfast, lunch, and dinner time we equally great. We got to know the staff there and they were always accommodating to our mother. The staff even gave us eating options when mother wasn't doing well with the menu. The staffing in the rehab unit were great! They did all they could to keep mother limber and continue the use of her muscles throughout her body. I thought they were very knowledgeable within their field of work and also listened to our concerns and modified her workout regime to fit her needs. Overall, I could not be more happy with the service and care that our mother received. A knowledgeable staff and administration is what I witnessed. If one writes a negative review, then they probably didn't spend the time to understand the health care industry and what rules/laws apply and how it affects their loved ones. The people at Windmill are fantastic and I would not hesitate to use them again.
The Windmill Village Nursing home personnel was kind and helpful. The room was nice and clean and so was the cafeteria. My relative looked clean and well and she always smiled when she saw her favorite loved one. Thank you to all the aides and nurses that kept her feeling and looking great. GOD bless you all. Have a merry Christmas π.
Quality Score
Carley found a spotlessly clean, welcoming environment with friendly staff that families appreciated, though rehabilitation and care quality delivery raised significant concerns.
